The Lumineers // Denver folk rock

The Lumineers // Hey Ho

Somehow I have missed The Lumineers over the course of the last month. When I was in Colorado, they played Snowball and then while I was in Austin they rocked SXSW. They have plenty more dates though and from what I have heard they can rock a live audience. Hoping to catch their tour stop on 4/13 at the coolest place in Evanston, “Space”. Look for their full length out on 4/3 from Dualtone Records. Enjoy.

jenny o // willie’s ranch // sxsw

I was blessed to find myself in Austin this past week for a quick trip while SXSW was shaking loose. I was also lucky enough to muster up an invite to Willie Nelson’s ranch for a private party sponsored by Electric Lady Studios. The first act I caught was Jenny O. She has a wonderfully soothing voice that forced me to look up to the sky, take a deep breath and reflect on all the things I have to be thankful for. I first found myself listening to Jenny awhile back via the song OK Honey which is also insanely catchy.

Special thanks to my old concert buddy Jeff for the invite.

I didn’t feel so great until I saw the city

I have been laying low in the mountains of Colorado this past week. Now, gearing up for a Texas trip and a stop by my favorite town during my favorite time of the year… SXSW. But first, Alabama Shakes on Friday night. Viva.

Michael Kiwanuka with Dan Auerbach

Michael Kiwanuka – Lasan

2 of the most talented musicians around: Michael Kiwanuka & Dan Auerbach. Take a listen to Michael’s beautiful collaboration with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach (who produced and also features on the track) which was recorded in London a weeks back.

Michael will be playing KCRW’s SXSW showcase on 3/14.

The talented Jessie Baylin

As I have mentioned before, Richard Swift produced Damien Jurado’s latest record ‘Maraqopa’. Maraqopa has been my favorite release of the year so far. A few months back, Richard Swift also produced Jessie Baylin’s Pleasure Center EP of which a couple of samples can be listened to below including a truly breathtaking Fleetwood Mac cover.
