Townes // Dead Flowers
One of the greatest songs ever in my opinion. Townes is an appropriate artist to kick off 2012 considering he died on New Years Day in 1997. Viva!

Can you get to that?
Stone Darling – Can You Get To That
About two years ago to the date I dropped this gem by Sleigh Bells where they take a sample from Funkadelic’s Can you get to that. It put the original version of the song on the radar for a lot of people including myself. Two years later, the talented Stone Darling is putting their own spin on the same Funkadelic tune. Scoop this song for free. Let me know in the comments if you dig.

My favorite song of the year 2011
It was not an easy task to pick a favorite song of 2011 nor did I plan on attempting the task. But, after seeing Alabama Shakes perform 3 times in as many days I feel compelled to share the love. Every time I hear this band I get goose bumps and feel the raw emotion that is poured in to every track. The lyrics of the song Hold On, especially the excerpt below, speak to the wild times I have survived and to the unknown that lies ahead. When I contemplate the infinite possibilities of what is in store in 2012 the opportunities have never been more promising, for myself, and for this friendly crew from Athens, Alabama.
Bless my heart.
Bless my soul.
Didn’t think I’d make it to 22 years old.…
…I don’t know where I’m gonna go, don’t know what what I’m gonna do.
Go and buy the EP for $4.

Cotton Jones // Egg on a Sea
At about 1:20 this song gets real. Cotton Jones is responsible for Paranoid Cocoon which is one of my favorite records in my collection. Gone the bells is the jam on that album. This tune above is from Sit Beside Your Vegetables, a 4 song EP that was released this past February.

Try this with headphones…

Name your price for all the tunes over at their bandcamp. From their site:
Tearjerker plays music that has been described by various people as indie rock, shoegaze, chillwave, glo-fi/lo-fi and other subgenres that Tearjerker hadn’t really heard of before.
